We’re excited to start offering Vaults pre-installed with a custom OpenWrt image built specifically for Protectli hardware! This will be first available for the Vault Pro VP2400 Series (VP2410, VP2420, VP2430, and VP2440), while we continue refining support for other Vaults to soon roll out.

Features included with the pre-installed image:

• Factory reset via reset button: hold for 10 seconds to restore the OS and all default drivers. This restores any drivers included by default that may have been removed.
• Full driver support: every NIC, WiFi card, and modem we sell is covered, no manual package installs needed.
• Useful packages preloaded: including LuCI and serial drivers.
• Access Point ready: power on a Vault with a WiFi card installed, open the OpenWrt web GUI, and you can have an AP configured in minutes.

Support for more Vault models, TPM support, additional WiFi module compatibility, and WiFi 6E card improvements are all coming as development continues.

Prefer to build your own? You can build this image from scratch, useful if you want to add specific packages or drivers, want to test and tinker with it on a different Vault, or if you’d just be keen to dig into how it all works. It’s a great way to learn, and allows you to dive deeper into customizing your own experience with using a Protectli Vault.
